Executive Director – Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce
Kirstin Kahaloa currently serves as the Executive Director of the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce. Under her leadership, her Chamber is tasked with providing leadership and advocacy for a successful business environment in west Hawaii Island.
Before working with the Chamber, Kirstin was working in Higher Education for 10 years and has served in various roles to support, recruit, retain, and advocate for international students and international education at several universities in the Midwest of the United States. She served as the Director of International Admissions at Maryville University, a national ranked institution in St. Louis, Missouri. In 2014-2015, Kirstin served as Chair and Chair-Elect of the regional board of the National Association of International Educators (NAFSA). NAFSA is the world’s largest nonprofit association dedicated to international education and exchange serving over 10,000 members in over 150 countries. She also served as the Co-Chair of the Local Arrangements Team for the NAFSA Annual Conference in St. Louis in 2013.
Kirstin earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Evansville in International Studies and Political Science, with a minor in Japanese Studies. She also completed a Master of Science degree in Public Service Administration from the University of Evansville and a Master of Arts degree in Management & Leadership with an emphasis in Human Resource Development from Webster University in St. Louis. Kirstin is also a proud alumna of the Kamehameha Schools.
