Chief – Kluane First Nation
Mathieya Alatini grew up on the Shores of Kluane Lake near Burwash Landing. She was part of a generation who had the opportunity to attend the First Nation operated Keetse’dun ku School. She attended high school and University in Victoria BC. She graduated with a commerce degree from the University of Victoria.
She has a very broad work experience ranging from: researcher, secretary, carpenters helper, archeology assistant, executive director of a First Nation Tourism Association, Capital Projects Manager for a First Nation, Federal Public Servant and since 2010 as Chief for the Kluane First Nation. She has also held seats on many boards and committees.
She is very keen on building community and capitalizing on the opportunities for economic independence for Kluane First Nation through their Final Agreement.
