Giles Newman is a Partner in BDO Consulting.  He has extensive experience in both the private and public sectors assisting organizations with strategic development, transformation and operational delivery with a focus on outcomes gained through working within the Boardroom for over 15 years.

He was previously a partner in a large accounting firm in Canada and headed the public sector practice of another large accounting firm in the UK prior to moving to Canada in 2011.

Giles specializes in helping organizations formulate strategy and to bridge the gap that often exists between strategic intent and operational delivery. He is an effective disruptive innovator within organizations and has considerable experience helping clients with efficiency, performance management and structural reform.

Giles has recently assisted a number of Municipal, Provincial and First Nations Governments across BC and Alberta with their strategic and transformation planning. He has also been a trusted advisor to the BC Jobs and Investment Board and has led a number of Boardroom assignments in the public and not-for-profit sector within Canada.

Giles also specializes in Government and First Nation clients, helping with diverse issues from their strategy to their financial control environment.

Giles is a former board director of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, one of the UK’s leading healthcare providers and was also a Director of Finance in the UK public service.

In the UK, Giles was a trusted advisor for the UK Healthcare Regulator, Monitor and provided business and strategic advice to numerous National Health Service, Local Authority and other Central Government clients. He advised on the restructure of the healthcare system in London and assisted in a number of high profile mergers and acquisitions prior to moving to Canada.
